When it comes to web design, there are a lot of things keep track of, from lining everything up, keeping it coherent, and deleting everything you don't want. It's hardly a miracle that there isn't something wrong on any website designed by someone that is self taught (like me.)

1. Click every button and tab!

When you are on your dashboard, or design page make sure you check every option it offers. That even applies to things not visual or design related! Fill in the search result appearance text, change the URL of that page.

2. Don't ignore the techy stuff!

Most platforms, from Wordpress to Four Square will have really helpful guides to tackling the scary SEO settings, and the linking, and meta tags. That stuff is really important!

3. Preview Preview Preview!

This one is my biggest weakness, when I'm done with a new change to my website I try to make sure I check every page, nook and corner of my site to check if I missed or messed anything up. Also make sure to check your mobile view! When you design a site for desktop the software will try its best to make it work on mobile but often misses the mark!

When I took over managing a site for a company they never bothered with mobile and it looked like this!

Everything was piled on top of each other, the poor software didn't know where to fit everything!

This is what I changed it too just by moving things around!
